If we’re being completely honest, for a lot of us, church can easily slide into a weekly social club—a cozy spot to catch up on the local gossip over post-service tea.

Growing up, though? My motivation for getting into that pew was purely based on survival.

As a Catholic kid attending a Catholic primary school, you could bet your pocket money that the nuns were actively scanning the pews every Sunday. Miss a mass, and by Monday morning assembly, your head would be bobbing front and center as you were interrogated about your holy absence. Fear is a surprisingly powerful motivator! I practically dragged my mother (a convert herself) through the church doors just to save my own skin.

Fast forward to today: I take myself to church. Not out of fear, but because I genuinely need Jesus in every single corner of my life. And that’s the heart behind this blog.

Well… that, and the fact that God clearly has a sense of humor. He blessed me with a Pentecostal husband.
